Meet our positive and crafty superstar
We have enjoyed taking a look in to the personal lives of our SydneyLinks team and what brings joy in to their lives. Up to now we have introduced you to Simon, Jean and Trish and now we get to introduce you to the lovely, Maria.
Maria has been with SydneyLinks since 2009 working in accounting, booking and Reception. She now keeps the whole office running as our receptionist and personal assistant to the whole team. We got to chat to Maria about some things she loves and her favourite spots in the our local neighbourhood of Potts Point.

We start with Maria’s first love, her extensive fashion doll collection. “I can live vicariously through my dolls, dreaming of amazing fashions from a bygone era,” she says.
She doesn’t just collect them, Maria has made use of her passion. She has taught herself how to paint their faces to the tiniest details, style their hair through wig making, making their tiny jewellery and dressing them with everything from shoes to fur coats, hats and clothes. “I have learnt to sew, although I still have no idea how to make a pattern”.

From a necessity, Maria learnt to photograph her dolls in a professional manner for display. This skill has leant itself to one of her other beloved hobbies, landscape photography. We asked Maria what she loved most about this hobby, “The landscape and the sky is universal, even the homeless man can gaze at the moon on a clear night”.
During recent exploration of rustic settings and abandoned buildings, Maria captured some stunning photography of the Australian landscape. She loves how the lighting from each scene effects the overall feel of the finished product, “I love to see the sunset and how the colour of the sky changes as you photograph”. When Maria isn’t capturing beautiful pics like these you might find her watching some of the classics. She cites Julie Andrews in Cinderella and the 1939 Wizard of Oz as some of her favourites. She says ‘In my own little corner in my own little chair’ from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella says it all, “I am a dreamer and a hopeless romantic”.
You might catch Maria at some popular local spots in Potts Point during the week too. She has a great list of local eateries which are highly recommended including Busharri for their hot sake, “I love it to be really hot”, and Thai Power on Victoria street as her all time favourite.
