When you picture a real estate agent you don’t often see much more than someone solely focused on property. To put stories to faces we get to know each of our team members and some of the professionals we work with through a series of conversations. First up is our favourite salesman Simon Hohnen. A fun loving and creative man with an adventurous love for life.

We spoke to Simon right before his morning commute to work about a few of his favourite things. Lover of a good speed race and a bit of fun, Simon shows off his Piaggio scooter. The scooter is a sophisticated cream in colour with a brown leather seat. “I drive it to work, I like being able to zip up through the traffic”, he says. “I spend $5 a week on petrol!”.
Simon shared his enjoyment for the scooter with his wife Karen, who he once taught to ride. “Karen would ride in front while I followed behind. She would sometimes disappear up ahead out of sight… she came walking back pushing the bike a couple of times.”

Meeting through the food and wine industry, Simon shares his love of wine with Karen. “We met while I was working in a restaurant I owned, back when she was a wine distributer.” Making our way to the side of his home, Simon opens the door to their wine cellar, a well set up room with a perfect cool temperature.
“We have many wines and we had kept wines from 1992 when my son was born and then opened them on his 21st birthday”. Simon speaks of the shiraz, reds and other wines they shared a the birthday party and the wines they have collected dating back as far as the 80s.

Mimicking the cars you might find at a Motor Sport Park Sydney drifting event Simon introduces his remote control car, “it’s a one tenth,” he jokes. “Nine more of those and you’ll have a full sized one”. Though he shows off the car with it’s current set, Simon has new tyres ready to attach. “These worn tyres are perfect for drifting.” You get to see the sense of a thrill-seeker with a mix of creativity as he speaks of wanting the remote control cars tyres to below out coloured puffs of smoke as it races around.
You might find Simon on a Saturday morning downloading his newest musical discoveries. “I discovered Adele once on a show and downloaded and listened to her albums one morning”. Simon loves the ease of modern day access to music and discovering new music divas such as Dami Im and the like. Just as smooth of the ear, he loves a good blues singer like the gritty Joe Cocker or Eric Clapton and electric organ players such as Booker T. & the M.G.’s
When it comes to business Simon supports locals for ease and simplicity. Marcelle Marcelle at 127 Macleay Street is a favourite of his, “They are always friendly and remember who you are.”
