A growing commercial portfolio and important reminders for property owners this season
SydneyLinks is stepping into the new year with steady growth and a renewed focus on supporting property owners across Sydney.
One of the biggest developments in the business has been the expansion of our commercial property leasing management. What began as a small addition to the portfolio has quickly gained momentum and we now manage five commercial properties with more on the way. This growth has naturally brought new responsibilities and the SydneyLinks team have been dedicated to reviewing and updating documents for both owners and tenants to ensure complete accuracy and protection for all parties.
As more commercial clients join SydneyLinks it has become clear that many owners are not fully aware of the differences between a retail lease and a commercial lease. It is an area where clarity is essential because the two lease types come with distinct legal conditions, responsibilities and compliance requirements. Retail leases are generally ground floor spaces or areas with direct public access such as shopfronts on streets. Commercial leases on the other hand, tend to relate to upstairs offices, workspaces, creative studio,s or speciality businesses that do not rely on walk in clientele. The expectations for each category vary and the SydneyLinks team take this seriously when structuring agreements to ensure that every detail aligns with the correct lease type.
Our principal agent, Trisiana Muljono, has been working closely with property owners and her advice has been consistent. Check your documents. Many of the new commercial clients who have approached SydneyLinks have discovered that their existing paperwork was incomplete outdated or simply not compliant. These gaps can lead to complications when disputes arise or when tenants need clarity on their obligations. SydneyLinks have been helping owners navigate these checks by thoroughly reviewing leases. For any owner who feels unsure about the state of their paperwork, please seek guidance and contact our friendly team today.
As we approach the festive season the SydneyLinks office will be officially closed from 15 December, and will reopen on January 5. Although the doors will be closed the team remain fully contactable and active during this period. Calls and emails will be monitored and urgent matters will still be handled promptly.
The SydneyLinks team has had a great year of growth across all areas of the property market and we can’t wait to see what 2026 brings. See you all in the new year.
