Woolloomooloo

The charming harbour-side Sydney NSW suburb of Woolloomooloo sits just 1.5 km east of Sydney’s central business district. This small, prestigious suburb draws in residents looking for exclusive housing and breathtaking views of the ocean.

Transport Links

Woolloomooloo is generously serviced by Sydney State Transit buses.  Whilst Woolloomooloo doesn’t have its own railway station, the suburb is serviced by Kings Cross underground station and provides easy access to the city and surrounding destinations.

Local Culture

Named after the first Aboriginal homestead, Woolloomooloo was originally dockland that housed Sydney’s poorer working class. The demographics of the area changed with the development of the waterfront and the renovation of Finger Wharf, the largest wooden structure in the world.

Finger Wharf has been developed to include a range of specialty restaurants, pubs and a large shopping centre. The Wharf also houses limited, exclusive apartment housing.

Community and Recreation

Woolloomooloo offers a wide range of outdoor recreational activities. A local favourite is the Andrew Boy Charlton Pool; an eight-lane heated outdoor saltwater pool for those who prefer not to swim in the ocean. The beautiful Royal Botanic Gardens is just a short stroll away for residents.

Woolloomooloo is perhaps best known for its adventurous water sports and activities. Marinas offer jet boat rentals and tours and the suburb is also considered one of Sydney’s best scuba diving locations. Sky-diving, rock climbing and other high adrenaline activities are also available in the area, drawing thrill seekers from all around the world to Woolloomooloo’s shores.
